Pool decks and patios are expensive to replace. Caulking and concrete-sealing* could prevent deterioration and exposure to salt erosion, so it just makes sense to have those areas caulked and concrete-sealed properly. Your stamped pool deck and patio will be subjected to many things that can leave stains on the surface; chlorine and pool chemicals, tanning and skin burn protection lotions, food and drink spills, leaves, dirt, fertilizer, pet urine, and more. The right sealer will keep all of these from penetrating the surface and leaving an unsightly stain.
If you live in a cold climate, a third reason for sealing your pool deck is that it will reduce the chance of freeze/thaw damage, such as cracking and surface-flaking. This can happen as water penetrates the concrete surface and then expands as it freezes. The proper sealer will keep water from sinking into your concrete. Test your concrete today: does water bead up on the surface of the concrete? If not, it’s time to reseal your stamped concrete.
